As Muktsar district has outshined other districts by getting the overall first position in pass percentage in the PSEB Class XII results declared on Monday, the teaching community here has got a reason to smile. The teachers have termed it a perfect gift to them by students.

The pass percentage of students in the district has remained at 79.64 per cent. As many as 7,705 students had appeared in the examinations and 6,136 of them cleared.

Vijay Garg, principal, Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Mandi Harzi Ram, Malout, said, “The credit of this success goes to the students for their hard work. The decision of the state government to shift students to other schools to appear for examinations went good for our district.”

Similarly, Malkit Singh, District Education Officer (DEO), Muktsar, said, “The hard work of students and teachers has brought good results. Further, the policies of the state government and innovative ideas of Krishan Kumar, Secretary, Education, has made it possible for the students to scale heights. Meanwhile, a number of activists of various teachers’ unions too said it was a rare moment when Muktsar district, which is considered less developed, has got the overall first position in pass percentage.

“Though earlier, a number of students of our district have come in the merit, it is a rare moment when the district has topped in the overall pass percentage. Now, the state government must reward the teachers and principals of those schools where pass percentage remained commendable,” they said.
