Bathinda, July 10

Members of the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union on Tuesday staged a protest in front of the DC office against the state government’s move of making the dope test mandatory for the government employees and imposing professional tax on them.

Megh Singh, state president of the union, said they burnt effigies of the state government in the district headquarters as per the decision taken in their state-level meeting in Moga.

The protesters announced that they would not undergo the dope test neither would they pay the professional tax. They said the state government today stood exposed in terms of its approach towards its employees. They alleged that the government was “deliberately putting a financial burden on the employees” by imposing the professional tax. They also demanded that their long-pending demands should be fulfilled at the earliest.
