MCB issues challans for littering in city

BATHINDA: Ahead of the Swachhta Survey that is going to begin from January 4, 2018, the Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, (MCB) has started issuing challans to residents who dump garbage outside their shops or houses in the city.

Ahead of the Swachhta Survey that is going to begin from January 4, 2018, the Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, (MCB) has started issuing challans to residents who dump garbage outside their shops or houses in the city.

An MCB sanitation department team today issued challans to 10 shopkeepers while yesterday it had issued challans to around 13 shopkeepers or vendors.

Chief sanitary inspector Satish Kumar said his team has initiated a drive from the past two days, following the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal, to create awareness on maintaining sanitation.

He said as per the directions of the Municipal Commissioner, every day, a team would go to different areas and would check the sanitary condition and initiate action against the violators.

The MCB team is issuing challans under Section 323 of the MC Act, 1976.

As per information given by MCB sanitation department, apart from night cleaning in the main markets and on roads, various teams had been constituted, which were going to different areas for cleaning.

Satish Kumar said MCB would clear the vacant plots, which are turned into garbage dumps.

The Municipal Commissioner’s office has issued directions to the owners of the vacant plots to get the boundary walls of their plots constructed so that nobody can throw garbage into these plots again.
