Bathinda, August 13

Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has directed to take action against the companies and factories that are selling non-ISI mark filtered water bottles in various cities of the state.

Under this, Navjot Sidhu has issued a written order to health officers working under all municipal corporations, councils and panchayats in Punjab to check the bottled water in their cities or areas and take action against violators.

He has also told them that after taking action, a report should be prepared and sent to the government from time to time.

The Health Department’s food inspectors have also taken the responsibility of banning the sale of non-registered water, besides collecting water samples, but the department has not taken any such action for the past several years.

Sidhu has also stated in his order that it has come to the notice of the government that many factories in various cities are packing water and selling them in the market under the name of RO filtered water, but they are playing with the people’s health.

It has come to the notice of the government that the water mafia is active in big cities, which is making huge profits by selling poison in the name of water in bottles.

The government says that there is no guarantee that these bottles sold in the market without ISI mark are RO water. There is no registered number on these bottles.

The health officer will have the right to seize the bottled water.
