Mansa admn sets up parks, playgrounds

BATHINDA: With an aim to provide greener atmosphere to the people and ensure best of health, the Mansa administration has come up with 28 new parks in the district while another 37 are being added to facilitate green lungs to the area.

With an aim to provide greener atmosphere to the people and ensure best of health, the Mansa administration has come up with 28 new parks in the district while another 37 are being added to facilitate green lungs to the area.

As per a release issued here today, Mansa DC Apneet Riyait said these parks have come up at the sites, which earlier were mere garbage dumps in villages and had turned into eye sores.

“After getting the areas cleaned and spruced up under the MGNREGA, the villages of Makha Chahlan, Bhupal Kalan, Gurthari, Alisher Khurd, Heeron Kalan, Kotra Kalan, Dasmesh Nagar, Shekhupur Khudal, Akkanwali, Bakshiwala, Hampur Mander, Bhava, Daliyewala, Khiali Chahlanwali, Mofar, Bajewala, Bhaini Bagha, Burj Hari, Malkpur Khiala, Bhai Desa, Khokhar Kalan, Kaurewala, Phusmandi Dhani, Bhalanwala, Fatta Maloka, Kusla and Khaira Khurd have got new parks.”

She said, “Playgrounds have been built on 21 areas while 16 more are being developed to channelise energy of youth towards sports and provide sports nurseries at the village level. A basketball ground is being built in Kotra Kalan village, while volleyball grounds have come up in Maujo Kalan, Bajewala, Tamkot, Ubha and Kusla village. An athletic track is being laid in Gobindpura, Mal Singh Wala, Phulowal Dogra, Mandali and Jatana village. In Chakeriyan and Khokhar Khurd village, kho-kho ground is being constructed. At Barnala village, volleyball ground and track is being laid.”

She added that in Bhupal Kalan, Hodla Kalan, Mohar Singh Wala and Kotli village, kabaddi grounds have been laid. In Dhapei and Chotian village, an athletic track, in Gurthari and Mirpur Kalan village, a volleyball ground, in Hakamwala village, kho-kho ground, and in Bajewala and Jheryanwala village, football grounds have been constructed. Similarly, a kabaddi ground and an athletic ground have been laid at Bhaini.

ADC (D) Gurmeet Singh Sidhu said the works have been done under the MGNREGA to keep the district green and provide best of sports facilities to the budding players
