Finance Minister and MLA from Bathinda Manpreet Singh Badal on Saturday inaugurated a plantation drive at Government Elementary School at Dhobiana Basti here.

Addressing residents there, Manpreet Badal said under the drive, 6.25 lakh plants would be planted in the district to make Bathinda the greenest district in the country.

He appealed to the residents to make their contribution towards making the district most clean, “tandarust” and green. Each person should plant at least one sapling and did take care of it.

He also thanked the NGO for its great contribution towards the drive. He asked people to participate in the Independence Day function and celebrate the freedom of the country. He said only government employees should attend the Independence Day function and common people should also go.

Manpreet Badal appreciated the painting of solar system painted on the walls of the classroom. He visited and checked the work of new rooms of an anganwari centre there.

Deputy Commissioner Praneet, SSP Dr Nanak Singh, ADC (D) Sakshi Sawhney, Divisional Forest Officer Amritpal Singh, tehsildar Sukhbir Singh Brar, Arun Wadhwan, KK Aggarwal, Mohan Lal Jhumba, Pawan Mani, Harjot Singh, Jugraj Singh, Malkit Singh and others were present.
