Bathinda, February 20

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal today promised to provide jobs to five lakh youth every year under the ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ of the state government.

Inaugurating the second mega job fair at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) here on Tuesday, Manpreet said Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had made good his promise of providing job to every household with the initiation of the employment drive.

The state government has invited a large number of companies to provide employment during the job fair this year.

Apart from this, all small, medium and large industrial units of the state are also being motivated to join these fairs to provide jobs to the youth, he added.

The minister said education would be modernised and brought in tune with the changing trends so as to generate maximum job avenues.

He reiterated his promise to develop the MRSPTU as a model university, which would provide a fillip to technical education in the state.

The minister said the state government also plans to encourage the unemployed youth to start their own ventures and loans would be advanced at low interest rates, for which the government is formulating a comprehensive policy.

MRSPTU Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar said, “We are happy to be a part of the government initiative and are keen on sharing the responsibility of providing jobs to aspiring candidates for their bright future ahead.”

The state government is organising the second state-level job fairs in government and private institutions at 40 locations across the state from today to March 8.

The MRSPTU will host job fair on its campus from February 20 to 24. As many as 35 companies with 800 plus vacancies will be participating from north India.
