Man robbed of Rs 80,000 at gunpoint

BATHINDA: Three unidentified persons looted Rs 80,000 from a trader and fired bullets into the air before fleeing the crime scene near Bhagta Bhai Ka village on Friday.

Three unidentified persons looted Rs 80,000 from a trader and fired bullets into the air before fleeing the crime scene near Bhagta Bhai Ka village on Friday.

According to the police, Rajinder Kumar who owns a furniture shop, had withdrawn money from a private bank.

Talking to Bathinda Tribune, Jaswant Singh, Station House Officer, Dialpura, said, “Rajinder Kumar, a resident of Bhagta Bhai Ka, withdrew Rs 2.80 lakh from HDFC Bank in the market area on the Bhagta-Bazakhana road around 10:30 am. He adjusted Rs 2 lakh (Rs 2,000 notes) in his pocket and carried Rs 80,000 in a bag. Thereafter, a Verna car came close to him. Two persons got down and tried to snatch the bag from him. When Kumar resisted, a scuffle ensued. The accused fired four shots in the air from a revolver. The accused then snatched the money bag and fled.”

Singh said, “We have booked three unknown persons and launched a manhunt to nab them.” — TNS
