Man kills self after argument with wife

A man committed suicide by jumping into the Sirhind canal after having a heated argument with his wife.

The body was fished out of the canal by NGO Naujawan Welfare Society volunteers near the Bir Talab area.

NGO Naujawan Welfare Society president Sonu Maheshwari said the deceased had been identified as Harvinder Singh Raju, a resident of Paras Ram Nagar. He used to run a non-vegetarian food vend near the Paras Ram Nagar chowk.

Family members stated that Harvinder Singh had a heated argument with his wife over some issue. As per routine, Harvinder went for his vend from the house in the morning.

As per information, on Tuesday morning around 10 am, Naujawan Welfare Society received information regarding a body in the canal near Bir Talab.

NGO volunteers reached the spot and they informed the police and the body was taken out.

Later, the deceased’s family members also reached the spot. He is survived by his two sons (six-year-old and nine-year-old). Later, the body was taken to the Civil Hospital. A probe has been initiated into the incident.
