Man, in-laws booked in dowry case

Officials of the Women police station of Bathinda on Thursday booked a person and his parents for allegedly demanding dowry and forcing her for abortion against her will.

A case under Sections 498-A, 406, 313 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against Tarlochan Goyal (husband), Pawan Kumar (father-in-law) and Veenu Goyal (mother-in-law).

In a complaint lodged by Rupali Gupta, a resident of Basant Vihar Colony, Bathinda, it has been stated that her parents gave dowry as per the conditions set during her marriage with Tarlochan Goyal, a resident of Barnala.

Now he is living in Canada. According to the victim, her in-laws started harassing her for more dowry after some time and even forced her to go for abortion.

Sukhbir Kaur, in-charge of the Women police station, said a case had been registered after a probe and soon the accused would be held.

In another complaint lodged by Lochna Jain, a resident of Paras Ram Nagar, it has been stated that her husband Vikul Jain, her in-laws Vijay Kumar Jain and Neena Jain, residents of Milap Nagar, Ambala, had been harassing her over dowry.

Bhalla Singh, investigating officer, said a case under Sections 498-A and 406 of the IPC had been registered against Vikul Jain, Vijay Jain and Neena Jain on the statement of Lochna jain and the accused will be held soon.
