Lynching case: SSP tells Talwandi Sabo DSP to arrest accused

BATHINDA: Senior Superintendent of Police Naveen Singla today issued orders to the DSP and SHO of Talwandi Sabo for the arrest of the accused in the lynching case that took place at Bhagi Wander village on June 8.

Senior Superintendent of Police Naveen Singla today issued orders to the DSP and SHO of Talwandi Sabo for the arrest of the accused in the lynching case that took place at Bhagi Wander village on June 8.

Vinod Kumar Sonu, a resident of Bhagi Wander, whose limbs were chopped, died at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot. The villagers said Sonu was a drug peddler.

The police have registered a case against 13 persons, including Sarpanch Charanjeet Kaur, her two sons Amrinder Singh Raja and Binder Singh, along with Pooran Singh, Vadda Singh, Darshan Singh alias Mishra, Mandeep Kaur Brar, Gurpreet Singh, Jagdev Singh, Nimma Singh, Seera Singh Bheddawala, Harpal Singh and Gursewak Singh, all residents of Bhagi Wander, on the basis of the statement of Kuldeep Kumar, brother of Vinod Kumar, under Sections of 302, 364, 341, 186, 120B, 148 and 149 of the IPC.

After two weeks of the incident, the Talwandi Sabo police have failed to nab any accused.

The family of the deceased lodged a protest twice in the past few days.

The police have demanded 10 more days from the family.

Today, the SSP called Talwandi Sabo DSP Barinder Singh Gill and SHO Sandeep Singh Bhaati in relation to the case.

Naveen Singla said police parties had been conducting raids for the arrest of the accused.

Inspector Jagdish Kumar, who was the Talwandi Sabo SHO when the lynching incident took place, went on leave before the bhog ceremony of the deceased.

Thereafter, Sandeep Singh Bhaati joined as SHO of Talwandi Sabo.
