Players from different districts delivered emphatic performances in cricket matches being played during state-level games on Thursday. SP Gurmeet Singh inaugurated the tournament while principal of Gems Public School Anu Nagpal and district science supervisor Gurcharan Singh were also present. 

Assistant DEO (Sports) Iqbal Singh Buttar said more than 300 players were participating in the tournament. Buttar said players play the game with the spirit of the game regardless of whether they win or lose.  

In the first match of the day, Ludhiana defeated Pathankot by 84 runs. Batting first Ludhiana scored 138 runs in a 15-over match. In reply, Pathankot team was   bundled out for 54.  In a match between Faridkot and Amritsar, former after winning the toss, opted to bat first. Match was in progress till the filing of this report.

In another match between Muktsar Sahib and Barnala, former team after winning the toss decided to bat first and scored 129 runs in 25 overs till the filing of this report.
