Local Bodies Dept getting ready for garbage collection

BATHINDA: After the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Municipal Corporation Bathinda and nearby 18 municipal councils will not only collect door-to-door garbage from May 1, but will also transport the garbage at the doorstep of the solid waste plant installed by JITF Company on the Mansa road so that the company can initiate the reprocess work on zero tipping fee.

After the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Municipal Corporation Bathinda and nearby 18 municipal councils will not only collect door-to-door garbage from May 1, but will also transport the garbage at the doorstep of the solid waste plant installed by JITF Company on the Mansa road so that the company can initiate the reprocess work on zero tipping fee.

To hand over the work three months later and money to be spent on it, the Local Bodies Department has started preparations regarding this from now only as to know that if the corporation and councils do this work on its own, then how much money has to be spent by them.

Over this issue, Local Bodies Department chief engineer Amardeep Singh Dhaliwal today visited MCB office and held a meeting with EO of nearby 18 municipal councils. He instructed all the councils to prepare themselves for collecting and transporting garbage on its own within three months. He also told them to arrange for equipments and manpower as per the requirement.

The chief engineer said the state government is also planning to resolve this issue on its level, but still if the department had to do this work at its own level, then they should not face any problem, so preparation are must for this.

In the meeting, deputy director cum MCB commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal, XEN Sandeep Gupta, Davinder Jaura, solid waste plant project manager Baljinderpal Singh Sahni and others councils EO were present.
