Bathinda: Members of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and Dalit Mahapanchayat staged a protest by wearing a black dress in front of the Mini-secretariat. They also held a rally in the city over issues such as neglect of Dalits, ending the red line concept, providing same education to all and forming a youth commission. Kiranjeet Singh Gehri said, “In the Amarinder Singh government, people belonging to the Scheduled Castes have been overlooked. If our problems are not heeded, then we will intensify our protest.” TNS

6 held with liquor, poppy husk

Bathinda: The police have arrested two persons with poppy husk and four with illicit liquor. The CIA-II wing of the Bathinda police arrested a person with 35 kg of poppy husk from Burj Kahan Singh Wala.  A case has been registered at the Nathana police station. Sub-inspector Gurinder Singh of the CIA-II said they arrested Kulwant Singh, a resident of Chak Fateh Singh Wala village, with 35 kg of poppy husk. The accused has been booked under the NDPS Act. The Canal Colony police arrested Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Naruyana village, with 10 kg of poppy husk from Lal Singh Basti, Bathinda. The police have also recovered a motorcycle (PB-03U-6580). The Maur police arrested Labh Singh, a resident of Jodhpur Pakhar, with 20 bottles of illicit liquor. The Talwandi Sabo police arrested Balkot Singh, a resident of Behman Jassa Singh Wala village, with 12 bottles of illicit liquor from a Zen car (DL-8CD-3202). The Talwandi Sabo police arrested Ekattar Singh, a resident of Nathpura village, with 12 bottles of illicit liquor from a tempo (PB-03AP-9317). The Sangat police arrested Beera Singh, a resident of Jai Singh Wala village, with 36 bottles of illicit liquor. TNS
