Wrestler The Great Khali condemned the recent terror attack that occurred in Pulwama, J&K, and said diplomacy would barely serve any purpose now. India must give a befitting reply to those who perpetrated the heinous act. Khali said this while addressing a press meet to announce a wrestling event in the city.

Khali said: “It is high time that we strike against terrorism aggressively as 40 precious lives of our soldiers were lost in the attack. Moreover, dialogues and diplomacy tactics had been continuing since the Independence and things have barely improved since then.”

Sharing details about the wrestling event, Khali said Jalandhar-based CWE Wrestling Academy, owned by Khali, in collaboration with the district administration would organise the ‘Great Khali fight’ where wrestlers from abroad as well as across the country would participate.

While matches of the first phase would be organised on March 2 in Ludhiana, the final phase of the event would be held on March 9 at the Multipurpose Stadium in Bathinda.

Khali said it would be a great platform for wrestlers in the country to showcase their talent and the event was expected to provide a ‘WWE-like’ wrestling experience to spectators.

Talking about drugs, Khali said: “Drugs is one of the biggest problem in the country and the state is infamous for substance abuse. Sports is like a weapon that can fight and defeat the disease called drugs. If we can encourage maximum youth to take up sports, the menace would be wiped automatically. Maximum sports events should be organised and there must be prizes for players so that youth can be attracted towards channelising their energy in a positive direction, thereby living a healthy life.”

On challenges being faced by sportspersons in the country, he said diet was one of the major concerns in the country and every sportsperson must pay serious attention to it. Players instead of adhering to proper diet regimen take to drugs or use of steroids which take heavy toll on them in the longer run.

Sharing details regarding his wrestling academy in Jalandhar, Khali said they were training wrestlers as well as budding wrestlers from across the country to produce talent of international repute. As many as 15 wrestlers from the country would be participating in WWE trials to be held from March 3 to March 15.
