Bathinda, January 7

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Leader of the Opposition, Harpal Cheema, on Monday alleged that Sukhpal Khaira was an opportunist, who was floating a new outfit, Punjabi Ekta Party, for his own interest.

He claimed that the new party would not have any effect on AAP.

Cheema said Sukhpal Singh Khaira had formed his new party but the people of Punjab knew what Khaira wanted.

The day Khaira was removed from the post of Leader of the Opposition, since then he remained cut off from the party, Cheema said.

He alleged that Khaira was misleading people but now they would not show their faith in his words.

Cheema said AAP was strong in Punjab and its workers were united as before and would remain intact in future as well.

While talking to mediapersons at a function at a marriage palace in the city, Harpal Cheema said AAP was organising a rally on January 20 at Barnala in which the party would sound the bungle for the Lok Sabha elections. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal would address the rally, he added.

Further, he said preparations to make the rally a success were in full swing and AAP workers were quite excited about it. He said the AAP rally would silent all their political opponents.

Cheema reached Bathinda on Monday to attend the ring ceremony of AAP MLA from Talwandi Sabo, Prof Baljinder Kaur.

AAP MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur exchanged rings with Sukhraj Singh Bal at a function held here. Bal is also an AAP leader from Majha region.

It is learnt that a only few persons were invited. However, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Bhagwant Mann, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, HS Phoolka and Kanwar Sandhu did not turn up for the function.

Sukhraj Singh Bal said he and Baljinder Kaur had extended invitations to all AAP MLAs and leaders.
