Bathinda: Janmashtami and Independence Day were celebrated at Police Public School here today. Student of LKG and UKG performed on patriotic songs. Students also participated in dance, song and poetry events. Monika Singh, principal of the school, highlighted the importance of Independence Day and Janmashtami. School campus decked up

Little Kingdom Nursery School today celebrated Janmashtami on its school campus. Children were dressed up as Krishna, Radha and gopis. Images of Krishna's infancy were placed in a cradle. The school was well decorated for the celebration. Aarti and bhajans were recited on the occasion. Puja was performed by the staff and children. A small skit, signifying the message of the day, was shown to the kids. A team of bal gopals was formed to conduct the dahi-handi sport. A matki (earthen pot) was hung high, which was broken by bal gopals. Principal Shuchita Grover talked about the importance of the day and various aspects of Krishna's life. TNS

Man killed in accident 

A person was killed in a road accident near the Cantonment police station here. In a complaint filed with the police, Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, said his brother, Baldev Raj, was on his way to Bathinda from Bhucho side on his motorcycle (PB-03AM-7226). As he reached near the Cantonment police station, an Alto car (HR-13C-4728) hit him. He alleged that the driver of the car, Bhaskar Arora, was driving the car rashly. The complainant said, his brother was killed on the spot. The police have arrested the accused and a case has been registered in the Cantonment police station under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC. Investigating Officer Surinder Singh said after the arrest, the accused was released on bail. TNS
