It’s commoner vs mighty: Warring

Congress candidate Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, along with Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, held a road show in main markets of the city on Thursday after filing nomination papers from the Bathinda Lok Sabha seat.

The road show started from the fire brigade office. Raja Warring, along with Manpreet Badal and Khushbaz Singh Jattana, sitting on top of a Toyota Land Cruiser, headed the road show. They were followed by a large number of party workers carrying Warring’s placards and flags of the Congress and NSUI.

The workers also showered petals on the Congress leaders while they were passing through the Dhobi bazaar.

While addressing the supporters, Manpreet said “The support which the Congress candidate is getting from public is immense and it clearly indicates that he is winning this seat with a comfortable margin”.

He said people were happy with the two-year working of the Congress government and they would vote in favour of the government policies and ensure victory of the party candidate.

Raja Warring, terming this as a fight between a commoner and the mighty, asked people to give him a chance.

Pertinently, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was supposed to attend this road show, so there was huge police deployment on the city roads.

But due to bad weather, he went back after filing of nominations and holding a press conference in the city. 

Meanwhile, the road show led to a chaos as commuters and traders were highly troubled due to the barricades put up by the police on roads of the main markets since morning.

 Irked over this, shopkeepers in the Dhobi Bazaar downed their shutters and held a protest against the police barricading. Sensing the situation going out of control, senior Congress leaders rushed to the market and pacified the shopkeepers. The party leaders and shopkeepers even had a heated argument, but the matter was resolved. 

 Raja Warring also visited the vegetable market.
