Though the water supply to various part of the city has resumed, residents of mini secretary road area said they were not getting water.

On Saturday, they protested against the Water Supply Department by taking empty buckets in their hands .

The protesters raised slogans against the administration and department concerned.

Residents Meenakshi Jindal, Bina Jindal, Surinder Kaur, Nisha Sharma, Simranjit Sharma, Gurdayal Kaur and others said they had not been getting water in their houses for the past 20 years due to Sirhind canal closure, leading to scarcity of water.

The protesters said when they talked to the officials concern, they shrug off their responsibility by stating that the Sirhind canal was closed. They said now water had been released into the canal, but the water supply to their houses was yet to be restored.

Residents of Partap Nagar, Gopal Nagar, Jogi Nagar and various other areas in the trans-railway area also facing the same problem.

The Water Supply Department said the water supply would be restored properly by Saturday evening in the city.
