Govt ITI Women to host exhibition

BATHINDA: The Government ITI (Women) is all set to organise a three-day exhibition-cum-sale called “Glamour and Bloom” in which the students will exhibit their various articles.

The Government ITI (Women) is all set to organise a three-day exhibition-cum-sale called “Glamour and Bloom” in which the students will exhibit their various articles.

The exhibition will be held at Dunes Club from May 25 to 27. The Govt ITI (women) is hosting such an exhibition for the first time.

Around 80 students of Swing Technology and Surface Ornamentation Techniques Embroidery course will showcase articles made by them in the exhibition. The profit from the event will be distributed among them.

Amanpreet, a teacher at Govt ITI, said, “It has become possible because of the initiative taken by the Papani Das Lakra, wife of Deputy Comissioner (DC) Diprava Lakra.”

Talking to the Bathinda Tribune, Papani Das Lakra said, “We have imported silk from South India so that the people of the region get to see something new in the exhibition.”

The exhibition-cum-sale is aimed at providing students a platform from where they can get the maximum exposure and a learning experience, she added.

According to her, the students will not only sell their articles but will also take the orders for making new ones. Besides, they will provide the facility of free home delivery on getting the new orders.

The main attraction of the event will be the embroidered bed sheets with pillow covers, kids wear such as frocks, skirts etc, Patiala dupatta set, lehnga, gown, ladies suit, sarees and kurtis.

On the other hand, students hailed the initiative taken by Papani Das Lakra and faculty members. They said they will get the much-needed exposure, besides earning money from the event. Moreover, the people of the region will get to know their work through it.
