Govt adopts novel way to reach out

Under the Punjab Government’s initiative Mahatama Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana, a district-level camp will be held at Aroma Marriage Palace, Partap Nagar, on Wednesday. In this camp, all government departments will put up their counters to provide various services to residents of the district.

Giving this information here on Tuesday, Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Praneet said Manpreet Singh Badal, Finance, Planning, Programme Implementation and Governance Reforms Minister, would be the chief guest for the event.

Forms for various government schemes will be filled on the spot at the counters of the departments. The District Food and Civil Supplies Department will put up stalls for Atta Dal scheme; Rural Development and Panchayat Department will provide forms for 5-marla plots for those without a home under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana; the Labour Department will give forms for registration of workers; the Welfare Department will have forms for Ashirwad (shagun scheme); Agriculture Department will give forms for the kin of farm suicide victims; while leading banks will give forms for different bank schemes and job cards under MNREGA.

The DC appealed to the people of Bathinda district to reach the camp and fill the requisite forms. Beneficiaries will get the benefits as per their eligibility, he added.

ADC (D) Sakshi Sawhney said family members of farm suicide victims, farmers in debt, people suffering from terminal illnesses, such as AIDS, cancer etc, women heads of families, the families that have lost their sole bread winners, war widows and families of freedom fighters, families without a home, children who have dropped out of school and are malnourished, families of differently-abled people, drug addicts, elderly or orphans, unemployed youth above 18 years of age, victims of natural calamities or those living in hutments, acid attack victims, sanitary workers and manual scavengers, transgenders and beggars can also come to the camp to avail various benefits meant for them.
