GKU organises annual sports day

University College of Physical Education of Guru Kashi University (GKU), Talwandi Sabo, today celebrated sports day on the campus. Col BS Dhaliwal graced the occasion as the chief guest along with senior officials of the university.

The function, celebrated in the main GKU auditorium, witnessed a huge gathering of staff and students. Students of the Physical Education College performed several cultural and sports activities on the occasion. In his address, Dr Dhaliwal said the students should concentrate on sports along with studies. He also emphasised that the Deans of other colleges should motivate their students to take up sports.

Dr Ravinder Sumal, director sports of the university, read the annual report for the year 2016-17. Dr Jagpal Singh (pro vice chancellor) said that students with an outstanding performance in the All India Inter University sports were honoured with university colours and awarded certificates.

GKU Registrar Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman lauded the efforts of the Sport Department and the Physical Education College for this drastically managed programme and advised the students to take part in sports as well as overall personality development. — TNS
