Gang using forged papers for vehicle loans busted, four held

BATHINDA: The Bathinda police have busted a gang involved in purchasing two-wheelers on loan from automobile and finance companies by submitting fake Aadhaar and voter cards.

The Bathinda police have busted a gang involved in purchasing two-wheelers on loan from automobile and finance companies by submitting fake Aadhaar and voter cards.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested four persons, while four of their accomplice fled the spot. The police have also seized nine vehicles along with 29 fake Aadhaar cards and 23 voter cards from their possession.

This gang was active for the last two years and had sold around 25 two-wheelers to different persons.

The police did not rule out the involvement of employees of finance companies with the gang members. Addressing a press conference, SSP Nanak Singh said the Sangat police, after receiving information about the gang, started a probe into it. During investigation, it came out that the gang used to operate in two groups.

The accused have been identified as Bhupinderpal Sharma, Beant Singh of Talwandi Sabo, Inderjit Singh of Faridkot district, Gurpreet Singh, Karandeep Singh, Rahul Kumar of Sardulgarh in Mansa, Ravi Kumar of Mansa and Kuldeep Singh of Lelewala and have been booked under various Sections of the IPC.

The SSP said the accused, after getting new vehicles on finance on fake documents, used to sell these further at half the cost in rural areas of the district. They would give affidavits to sell the vehicles.

The SSP informed that gang mastermind Bhupinderpal had earlier worked in a finance company.
