Bathinda: The police have registered four cases under the Excise Act in the past 24 hours. The accused were arrested with illicit liquor. In the first case, the Canal Colony police arrested Sunder Kumar, a resident of Sahi Nagar, near Ganpati Enclave, with 40 litres of illicit liquor. The Rampura Sadar police have arrested Harwinder Singh, a resident of Gill Kalan, with 15 litres of lahan and a bottle of illicit liquor. In the third case, the Kotfatta police have recovered 20 bottles of illicit liquor. A case has been registered against Sandeep Singh, a resident of Kotshamir. The Talwandi Sabo police have arrested Bahadur Singh and Angrej Singh, residents of Lalleyana, with 15 litres of lahan and some illicit liquor.

Four held under NDPS Act

The police have booked four persons under the NDPS Act in the last 24 hours and registered three cases. In the first case, the Bathinda Sadar police have arrested Mohinder Kaur, a resident of Behman Diwana. In the second case, the Maur police have arrested Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Maur Mandi, with 80 intoxicant pills from Maur Khurad. In the third case, the Rama police have arrested Bahadur Singh and Angrej Singh, residents of Sandhura, with 1,100 intoxicant pills and 20 litres of lahan from Kamalu.

Purse snatched from woman

Two persons snatched the purse of Neetu Tayil, a resident of Aggarwal colony, at Narang Road on Monday night. The snatchers came on a motorcycle. A complaint was lodged by Neetu at the Civil Lines police station. It has been stated that as she reached near Narang Road on her scooty, the snatchers snatched her purse containing Rs 11,000 and two mobile phones. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 379B and 34 of the IPC. TNS
