Flights cancelled due to dust cover

Owing to winds from Rajasthan, which has been hit by a dust storm, an envelope of dust has engulfed the entire region, which also affected the movement of flights from the Bathinda airport located at Virk Kalan village in the district.

The Jammu-Bathinda and Delhi-Bathinda flights have been cancelled for two days due to poor visibility. The Bathinda-Jammu flights operate every day while the Bathinda-Delhi flight operates thrice a week.

Airport station director Niranjan Singh has confirmed that due to bad weather, the Jammu flight had been cancelled. However, on June 11, the Jammu flight was cancelled due to technical reasons.

The airport authority claims that till the time the dust cover is not cleared, the flights cannot operate.

Due to the cancellation of flights, people going to Jammu, Vaishnu Devi and Delhi in holidays are affected.

The Weather Department claims that due to western disturbance, there will be sudden change in the weather in the next 48 hours, which will lead to rain along with storm.

Due to this, on June 15, clouds can hover over the city and on June 16, the city can also witness drizzle. After the rain, the dust will settle.

As per the PAU Regional Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41.3 degree Celsius and minimum at 28.7 degree Celsius in the city.

The Weather Department claims that due to western disturbance, there will be sudden change in the weather in the next 48 hours, which will lead to rain along with storm.
