For the past few days, Surinder Kumar Garg has been running from pillar to post to get his arms licence renewed from the Suwidha Centre in Rampura Phul. It’s been two month since the date by which the service was to be provided had passed by.

According to the available information, Garg, a resident of Factory Road, submitted an application for the renewal of his arms licence to the Suvidha Centre in Rampura Phul on August 2. As per the receipt received from the Suwidha Centre, the service was to be provided by August 31.

Surinder said, “I went to the centre on August 31 but centre coordinator Hardeep Kaur asked me to wait for a few more days. Then I went a number of times to the centre but they always gave only excuses and my all requests fell on deaf ears.”

“I again went visited the Suvidha Centre around 10 days ago. The centre coordinator gave me the excuse that since my police verification was pending, the renewal had not been processed. When I showed them the police verification receipt which had been done on August 23, she had no answers. The entire staff of the centre then began arguing with me and started accusing me of questioning their way of functioning,” Garg added.

Garg then followed up his case with sub-division executive of the Sividha Centre. “When I spoke to SD Amarjit Singh, he assured me that he would call me once the work was done. Later, he stopped taking my calls,” Garg said.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Tribune sub-division executive Amarjit Singh said the application would be processed by Monday and also added that he would talk to his staff for misbehaving with the visitors at the Suwidha Centre.

District manager of Suwidha Centre Parmanand Garg stated that the application had been processed by the Rampura Phul Suwidha Centre and that the delay was now on the part of the department concerned. “We are not responsible for the delay in the renewal of arms licenses as the application is lying pending with the department concerned,” he said.
