Employees submit charter of demands to DC

Members of the Punjab State District DC Office Employees Union today submitted a memorandum of demands, addressed to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, to Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra.

State president of the union, Gurnam Singh Virk, led the deputation of the members.

During the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, they said in case their demands were not heeded by the state government by July 29, they would be left with no option but to start demonstrations.

Elaborating on their demands, state general secretary of the union, Joginder Kumar Jeera, and other leaders said the employees of the Suwidha Centres had been voicing their concerns for many years but in vain.

They demanded that the employees who began working after 2004 should also be given pension benefit, filling of vacant posts, lessen workload on the existing employees, immediate release of the dearness allowance instalment which had been pending for the past 33 months, revival of all allowances of ministerial staff which were stopped and regularisation of jobs of all employees working on contractual basis in government departments.

They also demanded upgrading of the post of superintendent engineer in the PWD, irrigation, B&R and Health Department, upgrading the post of circle superintendents in the excise, health and cooperative departments.
