Bathinda, May 1

Hundreds of employees of Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant under Sanjha Forum Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant employees union today observed the Labour Day here.

The employees raised their voice against the state government and raised anti-government slogans. Members of the union called the government as anti-workers as it failed to meet the requirements of workers and promises were made to them.

The protesting employees were demanding the clearance of DA which is pending from last 23 months. They are also demanding the release of 6 per cent DA which was increased from 2016. The union also threatens to intensify their protest.

The government had failed to deliver its promise and adopted anti-poor and anti-worker policy, the agitators alleged. The workers in every field are being exploited, they pointed out.

The government had promised the thermal employees the dearness allowance but later on promised proved to be just an eye-wash.

It had failed to give employment to youths while the labourers in every field are committing suicides.
