DSGMC member detained by police ahead of polling day

BATHINDA: Delhi Shiromani Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) member Nishan Singh has been detained by the police a day ahead of the Lok Sabha elections are to take place in Bathinda.

Delhi Shiromani Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) member Nishan Singh has been detained by the police a day ahead of the Lok Sabha elections are to take place in Bathinda.

It is learnt that he was questioned by the police. Bathinda SSP Dr Nanak Singh said, “On a complaint, they have detained DSGMC member Nishan Singh and the police are interrogating what he was doing in the city ahead of the polls.”

Congress leaders said that these SAD leaders from Delhi and outside were here to reportedly purchase votes.

Congress leader Anil Kumar Bhola said apart from this, even one more person from Delhi was nabbed by Congress leaders and a list had been recovered from him, in which mobile numbers were written.

He alleged that some time back SAD leader Sarup Chand Singla, along with around 200 persons, visited the area near Post Office bazaar and they were threatening people. Moreover, they were trying to disturb peaceful atmosphere ahead of polls in the city.

It is pertinent to mention that since the announcement of Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s candidature from here, Delhi Shiromani Gurudwara Management Committee president Manjinder Singh Sirsa had been camping in the city.
