Bathinda, July 14

Despite the District Magistrate’s ban orders, the sale of army clothes, parking of trucks on roads inside the city, running of a hookah bar and use of DJ songs on high volume during late night hours go on unabated in the city without any check or bid to implement these orders at the ground level.

On July 10, Additional District Magistrate Sakshi Sahwney had enforced various bans under Section 144. She had also banned the running of a hookah bar in the city, this step was taken to keep students and youngsters away from this.

She also banned the overloading of buses and sitting of students on the top of buses. Even parking of heavy vehicles and trucks was banned on the roads insides the city.

The DM also banned the sale of Army clothing and olive green colour jeeps, motorcycle in the district. All these orders were stated to be implemented till September 1, but it seems that these orders have been marked only on paper as it has not been implemented at the ground level till date.

All these ban orders are being openly flouted by residents as except issuing orders, no action has been initiated to keep a check on these by the district administration.

When ADC Sakshi Sahwney was contacted over this issue, she said, “We have not received any complaint or report of the same. If you can tell us where this is going on then we will look into it.”
