Bathinda, July 13

To take stock of how ‘Padho Punjab Padhao Punjab’ and the smart school initiatives of the State Education Department have fared in the district, the Punjab School Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, will conduct a review meeting with district education officers from across the state at the Chandigarh head office on July 16.

The agenda of the review meeting would also include problems faced by teachers and employees in the state.

A discussion on the problems encountered by students and teachers who have been shifted from Punjabi medium to English medium from this session (2018-19) and how they are performing would be one of major highlights of the meeting.

Sources in the department said there are six smart schools and 55 English medium schools in the district under the Education Department, whose performance will be reviewed. Whether books have reached these schools or not would also be looked into.

Sources added that the review meeting would take stock of funds being utilised for civic works in schools and whether the grants have been used properly.

Absenteeism of teachers and other staff would also be discussed and the action the respective heads in the districts have taken in the matter would also be considered.

Whether the disposal of answer sheets was done properly or not (after marking was done for the previous session), pendency of all types of cases in the Supreme Court and High Court, outstanding dues, medical bills, grievances of teachers and staff members would be a part of the review meeting.

Officials will also look into what plan of action was taken by the respective heads in the districts to improve the performance of schools which did not fared well in the previous examination.
