Bathinda: It was an exhilarating moment for DAV College, Bathinda, when Sandeep Singh (BA II) won a gold medal at Senior National Wrestling Championship in Jalandhar. Sandeep competed in the 79-kg category and defeated Jitendra of the Railways. Principal of the college, Dr Sanjeev Sharma, appreciated the efforts and the motivation provided by head, of the department of physical education, Prof Kuldeep Singh and faculty members, Prof Nirmal and Prof Rajveer Kaur. He expressed happiness over his victory and said: “He is proud of the students, who with their perseverance and tireless efforts continue to scale glorious heights.” TNS

National Milk Day celebrated 

Bathinda: To commemorate the 98th birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien, ‘ The father of white revolution’, Silver Oaks School, Bathinda, organised ‘National Milk Day’ on the school premises, in collaboration with Amul India. Representatives from Amul India conducted a quiz and drawing competition to apprise children of National Milk Day. As many as 300 students from various classes participated under various categories in the competitions. The winners were given gift hampers and Amul products. TNS

Seminar on eye laser treatment  

Bathinda: A seminar to spread awareness about timely screening and intervention to prevent blindness was organised at a local hospital here on Sunday. Dr JS Sra of Sra Eye Hospita said his hospital had started premium cataract services with a micropulse laser platform. Glaucoma or kala motia is a condition where patients start losing their vision and they have to use very expensive eye drops every day for the rest of their lives, he added. TNS
