Bathinda, March 14

With the completion of rail track electrification between Katar Singhwala and Lehra Mohabbat via Bathinda railway station, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Shailesh Kumar Pathak today inspected the work.

The team, which included the CRS, DRM Dinesh Kumar Sharma, engineers and construction officials, began the inspection word from the Bathinda railway station around 10 in the morning. The entire exercise lasted till the evening.

According to sources in the railways, the CRS will send a complete report in this regard to the railway ministry within a week, after which they will get to know the outcome of the inspection.

The exercise went off smoothly and Bathinda residents can hope to travel in electric locomotive trains to Delhi soon, added the sources.

“After the CRS clearance, an electric train between Bathinda to Delhi will become a reality. Consequently, there will be no need to use diesel locomotives, reducing pollution and cutting down travel time,” said the sources.
