Bathinda, October 10

Members of the Contract Employees’ Sangrash Morcha, Punjab, on Wednesday burnt an effigy of the state government over reducing the salaries of RMSA/SSA teachers and retrenchment in various other departments, including MNREGA and Punbus.

The protest was headed by state leaders Varinder Singh, Jagroop Singh, Sewak Singh, Veerpal Kaur and others.

Taking strict note of this, the union leaders demanded that posts of all contract teachers should be regularised at present salaries. They claimed that the Contract Welfare Act 2016 should be implemented.

The teachers also burnt the regularisation notification copies. They threatened that if their demands were not fulfilled then in the coming days they would intensify their protest.
