A complaint has been filed with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) seeking a ban on the movie ‘Mastizaade’ as some parts of the film allegedly diminish the dignity of wives and mothers of the Army men on duty.

The complaint has been filed with the Central Board of Film Certification, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Human Rights Commission by Sanmukh Rao, posted as a gunner in the Army. Sukhman was earlier posted in Bathinda Cantonment and has recently been transferred to Chhattisgarh. He filed his complaint through the RTI and the human rights online services, Bathinda.

Vasodha Soni, wife of Sanmukh Rao, also filed a separate complaint with National Commission for Women over the allege indignity.

The movie ‘Mastizaade’ was released on January 29 this year across the country. The complainant had raised objections over a part of the film which he claimed, had put the reputation and dignity of wives and mothers of Indian Armymen, at stake.

Sukhman claimed that the fundamental right of the Army men and women members of their family had been violated in the film that had also hurt the sentiments of Indian Army personnel and their families. He had sought a ban on the movie on the internet as well as in theatres besides imposition of a penalty on the authorities concerned who issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to the movie. Rao added in the complaint that the Army should be compensated and immediate action be taken to save the reputation and dignity of the wives and mothers of the Army personnel.

The complainant had objected to scenes in the film where dialogues of the actor Sunny Leone have double entendre and are supposed to portray the characters in a poor light morally.
