Civil Hospital gets infra pill

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal performed the groundbreaking ceremony for various developmental and renovation works at Civil Hospital, Bathinda.

The minister also visited a few schools in the city and released funds for their development works. An estimated budget of Rs 4.38 crore would be spent on developmental works at the government hospital. The Finance Minister said as a part of the project, the OPD of Civil Hospital, Women and Children Hospital, emergency unit and operation theatre unit would be renovated.

Manpreet said a new mortuary would be constructed at the Civil hospital, all roads inside the hospital would be recarpeted and works such as fencing around the building, providing proper sewerage system and repair of parking lots would also be done. A fencing to prevent entry of stray animals inside the government hospital would also be done.

Officials of the Health Department brought to the notice of Manpreet Badal the staff shortage at the government hospital, who asked them to visit his office in the coming days to discuss the issue in detail. Prior to that, the Finance Minister visited Arya Girls Senior Secondary School and released a grant of Rs 10 lakh for infrastructural improvements at the school.

Apart from this, he also visited Vishavkarma market area and released a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the completion of community centre work and Rs 5 lakh for renovation of Gita Bhawan building. He also gave a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the repair work of a sarai (inn) to Haji Ratan Management Committee.
