Bathinda, August 17

Finance Minister Manpreet Badal’s wife Veenu Badal on Friday listened to public grievances at Mehna Basti in Amarpura area coming under Ward Number 36.

She also performed the groundbreaking ceremony of laying sewerage in the area at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.

While talking to mediapersons, Veenu Badal said, “The development work has started picking up pace in the city as Manpreet Badal had already issued Rs 26 crore for projects. After completing works with these funds, more funds will be released. There will be no dearth of funds for development in Bathinda.”

She also assured that Manpreet Badal would leave no stone unturned for the development of the city and fulfil all promises made to the people.

“Various development works are being carried out in the city. The Finance Minister is in touch with officers to get the works accomplished within the given framework. This sewerage project will be completed within three months. A total of Rs 50-60 lakh is to be spent on it,” she added.

Councillor of Ward Number 36, Jagraj Singh, said, “No development works had been carried out in the past 10 years by the Akali Dal government in his ward. My area was ignored, but now, with this initiative, residents of the area would get relief.”

Briefing about the project, Jugraj said the sewerage laying will cover street number 1 to 7 of Mehna Basti.

Residents of the area also raised issues related to a small passage of entrance to Mehna Basti, along with a railway under-Bridge (RuB).

Veenu Badal assured the residents that the issue was already in their notice and talks were on to acquire land to extend the passage.

There is a hurdle that the land owner was demanding high price, but it would be resolved in a week, she added.
