City powerlifters bag four medals in junior national c’ship

BATHINDA: City-based powerlifters have brought laurels to the city by winning a gold and three silver medals during the Junior National Power Lifting Championship in Coimbatore recently.

City-based powerlifters have brought laurels to the city by winning a gold and three silver medals during the Junior National Power Lifting Championship in Coimbatore recently.

Yogesh Kumar bagged a gold medal in the 120 kg category and made a new national record with the lift of 302.5 kg in dead lift.

Inderjit Singh won a silver medal in the 105 kg category. Rema bagged a silver in the 43 kg category of women while Simran clinched in the 85 kg.

Kanwar Bhim Singh, secretary, District Power Lifting Association, said our players had performed well in the national games, in which around 2,000 lifters participated.

He said our players had also won two medals in power lifting during the school national games in Pune recently. Sandeep Singh bagged a silver in the 120 kg category while Jasmine won a bronze in 84 kg.
