BATHINDA: A city trader has been duped of Rs 82 lakh by a Mumbai-based infrastructure company, which purchased cement and iron from the dealer but did not make payment for it.

A city trader has been duped of Rs 82 lakh by a Mumbai-based infrastructure company, which purchased cement and iron from the dealer but did not make payment for it.

The Civil Lines police have registered a case against the owner of the company and started a probe.

ASI Nirmal Singh said the accused had been identified as Sunil Gutte, owner of Sunil Hitech Indian Infra Private Limited located at Bandra West, Mumbai. ‘

The police have registered a case against him on the complaint of Ajay Pal Garg, owner of Siya Trading Company located on the Bhatti road in the city.

In the complaint submitted to the SSP, it has been stated that the accused company had got some construction work contract in Bathinda, for which he had made cement and iron order to his firm, but when the credit started increasing, he refused to give material to the company.

Later, the accused gave corporate guarantee of his company and the complainant firm again started providing material. However, the accused again stopped making payment.

After completion of work, the returned to Mumbai without making payment.

When he went to meet the accused in Mumbai, the latter refused to do so.

It is learnt that SP (City) Gurmeet Singh had probed the complaint and after finding the allegations true, he had recommended registration of an FIR against the accused.
