A city-based teacher has penned a book titled ‘Mann di Kukh’, which is an anthology of poems that touch different subjects, varying from social evils to cultural heritage of Punjab.

Jaswinder Kaur Sema (38), a head teacher at Government Primary School, Nathana, and a resident of Sema village, has written the book, which is a collection of 88 poems.

Sema said, “‘Mann di Kukh’ is a bouquet of different subjects, including religion, love, suffering, glimpses of culture, social awareness, killing of girl child, unemployment, dowry, drugs and degrading social and cultural fabric of Punjab.”

She added, “Every topic in this book is presented in a very interesting way, therefore it never bores the reader. Apart from social evils, this book is filled with knowledge about the love of God and culture of Punjab. Words which were extinct from our life are very well used in this book. The book also portrays the sadness of the partition of the India.”

The book is available in many universities and libraries of Punjab and the second edition of the book is also coming out soon. It was launched in Canada also and sold more than 500 copies worldwide.
