The girls’ team of Guru Nanak College, Budhlada, and the boys’ team of Physical Education College, Mastuana Sahib, won the three-day Inter-College Circle-Style Kabaddi Tournament held at DAV College, Bathinda.
In girls’ category, Guru Nanak College defeated Physical Education College, Mastuana Sahib, in the final match to win the trophy.
In boys’ category, Physical Education College defeated hosts DAV College, Bathinda to emerge as champions.
As many as 25 teams participated in the tournament, which was organised by Punjabi University, Patiala.
Mayor Balwant Rai Nath was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Principal Dr Sanjeev Sharma, vice-principal Prof Varesh Gupta and the college staff gave a warm welcome to the chief guest.
The Mayor shared experiences of his life with the students and said in all spheres of life, be it academics, sports, politics or commerce, one should be honest and work with full dedication and integrity.
Karan Virender Singh of DAV College Bathinda was declared the best player of the tournament and was awarded with Rs 1,100.
Dr Sukhdeep Kaur, Dr Paramjeet Kaur and Prof Abhinav Soni conducted the stage and an interesting live commentary was done by Soni Kotfatta.
Kuldeep Singh Nambardar, Raghuveer Singh, Prof PK Verma, Onkar Singh, Prof Jasbeer Singh, Om Prakash Sharma, Prof Bahadur Singh and Gulzari Munak and Dr Surjeet Singh of Government Rajindra College, Bathinda, were also present during the closing ceremony.
