Bathinda, March 18

The Civil Lines police yesterday booked a block primary education officer (BPEO) of Bathinda and another person for making a fake affidavit and forging signature regarding the sale of a car.

A case has been registered two years after the complaint was lodged. No accused has been arrested by the police.

The accused have been identified as Darshan Singh Jheeda (BPEO) and Hardev Singh, residents of Bathinda.

In a complaint lodged by Gurdarshan Singh, a resident of Model Town, Bathinda, it has been stated that Darshan Singh had purchased his Maruti-800 car in 2005 and he gave all documents to Darshan Singh, including an affidavit of sale.

Darshan Singh further sold the car to Malkeet Singh, a resident of Jheeda after some time.

According to Gurdarshan Singh, an accident of the car took place in 2008 near Hariraipur village. He said he was surprised when he received a summons from the court regarding the case.

On inquiry, he found that Darshan Singh had made an affidavit in his name and forged his signature. According to the affidavit, Malkeet purchased the car directly from Gurdarshan Singh.

The complainant told the police that the accused did all this only to save him from the claim as the court had ordered Rs 5 lakh compensation.

Gurdarshan Singh today said a case was registered after two years as seven SHOs were shifted from the Civil Lines police station during this period.

IO Gynashewar Kumar said a case under Sections 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 199 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against Darshan Singh and Hardev Singh at the Civil Lines police station. — TNS
