Bhai Ghanaiya’s teachings to get recognition globally: Bittu

MP from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu on Thursday said the Punjab Government would make efforts to ensure that the teachings of Bhai Ghanaiya get recognition globally. He said he would also raise the issue in the Lok Sabha.

He was addressing a gathering during a state-level function, ‘Manav Sewa Diwas’, organised by the Punjab Government in memory of Bhai Ghanaiya at Government College for Girls here.

While speaking on the occasion, Bittu said the teachings of Bhai Ghanaiya and his service towards humanity could not be ignored in Sikh religion. He said Bhai Ghanaiya served humanity during the time period of three Sikh gurus, while his ancestors served during the time of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh guru.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu said today’s youth should adopt the teachings of Bhai Ghanaiya so that discrimination and inequality in society was eradicated. He said the youth should also take his teachings to masses. Ashu said he would also speak to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in this regard and would also raise this issue in the cabinet meeting. He said Bhai Ghanaiya was the real creator of Red Cross.

The function was also addressed by former Cabinet Minister Malkit Singh Dakha and Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Charity and Peace International Foundation patron Prof Bahadur Singh Sunet. Government College for Girls Principal Savita Sharma welcomed the gathering on the occasion.

District Red Cross Society Secretary Balvir Aeri briefed the audience about the efforts being made by the Red Cross Society and other schemes. During the function, college students Japneet Kaur, Vanshika and Kartika presented poems on Bhai Ghanaiya.

Later, Ravneet Singh Bittu and Bharat Bhushan Ashu also inaugurated a blood donation camp and first-aid training workshop on the college premises. During the camp, 45 units of blood were collected.
