Players from all across the state showcased their prowess in hockey and handball matches on the final day of inter-district school games being played in the city on Wednesday.

The handball matches were played at Saint Xavier School and hockey matches were played at Government Rajindra College, Malwa College and Sports School, Ghudda. The inter-district school games started on November 10 and concluded on November 14.

In handball, Bathinda defeated Patiala by 30-26 to secure the first place in the school games and Mohali managed third place by defeating Sangrur by 13-2 score.

In the final of hockey, it was a neck-and-neck competition between Amritsar and Faridkot. In the fixed duration of the match, both teams scored two goals each. In the penalty shoot-out, Amritsar won the match by defeating Faridkot by 4-3 goals.

In the match being played for the third place, Khalsa wing of Amritsar was defeated by Mohali in the penalty shoot-out by 4-2 goals. In the limited duration of the match, the score of both teams were 2-2 goals.
