BATHINDA: Bathinda district emerged overall winner in the 2nd Bathinda Zone Police Sports and Athletic meet by bagging 41 medals, including 17 gold.

Bathinda district emerged overall winner in the 2nd Bathinda Zone Police Sports and Athletic meet by bagging 41 medals, including 17 gold. Muktsar district stood second with 12 gold medals.

Rajinder Singh, DIG, Ferozepur Range, and Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla distributed prizes to winners. Policemen from all seven districts of the zone — Bathinda, Faridkot, Muktsar, Mansa, Ferozepur, Moga and Fazilka — participated in various sports activities during the meet. There were four team sports like kabaddi, football, volleyball and basketball. Bathinda bagged a total of 41 medals with 17 gold, 15 silver and 9 bronze. Muktsar won 27 medals with 12 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze. Moga won 9 medals 6 gold and 3 silver. Fazilka won 20 medals with 3 gold, 1 silver and 16 bronze. Ferozepur won 5 medals with 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. Faridkot clinched 12 medals including 10 silver and 2 bronze. Mansa won 5 medals with 1 silver and 4 bronze.

Faridkot district won gold medal in kabbadi while Bathinda stood second and Mansa third. Bathinda secured first position in basketball, followed by Faridkot and Mansa. Muktsar achieved first position in volleyball, Faridkot second and Mansa third. Muktsar won gold medal in football, Faridkot silver and Ferozepur bronze.

Winners will now take part in the inter zone meet in Jalandhar next month.
