Bathinda cops shine in police games

BATHINDA: Police personnel from the Bathinda zone brought laurels to the region by bagging a bevy of medals at the recently concluded 56th Police Inter-Zone Sports and Athletics Meet organised at the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) Complex, Jalandhar.

Police personnel from the Bathinda zone brought laurels to the region by bagging a bevy of medals at the recently concluded 56th Police Inter-Zone Sports and Athletics Meet organised at the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) Complex, Jalandhar.

A felicitation event to honour all medal winners was organised at the District Courts Complex where Inspector General Mukhwinder Singh Chinna presided over as chief guest.

In all, seven gold, six silver and three bronze medals were won in different categories by women police personnel while two silver and one bronze medal were won by men. In women’s category, Veerpal Kaur from Bathinda won gold medal in 200 m race and Kiranjeet Kaur from Bathinda won gold in shot put. Veerpal Kaur from Muktsar won gold in 400 m race.

In 4x400 meter relay race, Jaspreet Kaur, Bathinda; Ramadeep Kaur, Bathinda; Veerpal Kaur, Muktsar; and Veerpal Kaur, Bathinda won gold medals.

Jaspreet Kaur (batch no 361) from Bathinda won silver medal in high jump and Jaspreet Kaur (batch no 1990), Bathinda won silver medal in 100 m race.

In 4x400 meter relay race (again), Veerpal Kaur, Bathinda; Amandep Kaur, Faridkot; Veerpal Kaur, Muktsar; and Jaspreet Kaur, Bathinda won silver medals.

In long jump, Jaspreet Kaur, Bathinda, won bronze and Ramandeep Kaur, Bathinda also won bronze in 400 m race. Jaspreet Kaur, Bathinda won bronze medal in 100 meter race.

In the boys’ category, Swaranjeet Singh, Bathinda, won silver in 400 m race, Jagtar Singh won silver medal in discus throw and Gurlal Singh from Bathinda won bronze medal in 100 m race. The boys kabaddi team also a silver medal. Seven district from Malwa region had represented Bathinda zone in the games.
