Bathinda, September 9

Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari has marked a probe into the construction of the newly constructed Bathinda-Barnala highway on a complaint filed by city resident Dr Vitull K Gupta. Vaibhav Dange, private secretary to the minister, has written a letter to Dr Gupta, in which he has stated, “The minister has received your complaint regarding the poor construction work on the Barnala-Bathinda highway. The complaint has been forwarded to the chief engineer (P-1) of the department for necessary action.”

Dr Vitull Gupta stated in his complaint, “The new highway, which is being constructed in the district, is of poor quality. It is offering a rough ride to commuters. There is a significant difference between the new cemented road and the coal tar road.” — TNS
