Bathinda, January 20

The owner and manager of the “The Brew Bukhara” bar located in the Mittal Mall have been booked on the charge of serving liquor to minors.

The Kotwali police have registered a case against Umesh Goyal, owner of the bar, a resident of Gurugram, and Harmandeep Sharma, a resident of Model Town in Bathinda, who is the manager of the bar, under Sections 62, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act and Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Care and Protection of Children Act 2015.

SHO Davinder Singh said the case had been registered as there was wrongdoing in the liquor stock of the bar and as well as they were found serving liquor to minors. However, no arrest has been made so far.

Police personnel and officials of the Excise Department on Saturday raided ‘The Brew Bukhara’ bar over a tip-off that the bar was allegedly serving liquor to minors.

During the raid, which continued for around three hours, excise officials checked the record of liquor served in the bar. The police also caught several young boys and girls, including a 14-year-old girl, having liquor at the bar. The police took them to the Civil Hospital to get their medical examination conducted.
