Bathinda: The court of Additional Sessions Judge on Tuesday cancelled the interim bail application of head teacher Raghubir Singh in a harassment case filed by Varinder Kaur. Varinder Kaur, who is a teacher in government school Kararwala, accused the school headmaster of slapping and abusing her. The Mazdor Mukti Morcha had staged a protest in favour of the teacher, after which on May 1, a case was registered against Raghubir Singh at the Rampura Sadar police station. However, the accused has not been not arrested by the police till date. The accused had approached the court for bail and filed his bail application. Advocate Harbhagwan Singh Joga appeared for Ragubir Singh in the court and stated that Raghbir Singh had been found innocent in various inquiries conducted by the Education Department. Advocate Gurpreet Singh appeared for the victim and presented the copies of earlier probe reports to the court. Agreeing with the victim’s counsel, the court rejected the bail plea of Raghubir Singh. Cellphones taken away

Bathinda: Unidentified persons stole 40-45 used mobile phones from a phone repair shop on the intervening night of May 20-21. In a complaint lodged by Sunil Kumar, a resident of Shakti Vihar Nagar, it has been stated that miscreants broke open the shutter of his shop and took used mobile phones worth Rs 35,000-40,000, which had come for repair. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons at the Thermal police station. TNS

Four batteries stolen

Bathinda: Four batteries of trucks and buses have been stolen from a workshop, Grover Motor Private Limited, located on Malout road. In a complaint lodged by Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Mati Dass Nagar, it has been stated that on Monday night, unidentified persons took away four batteries of Exide company worth Rs 45,000 from the workshop. A case under Section 379 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons at the Thermal police station. TNS

Two motorbikes lifted

Bathinda: Two motorcycles were stolen near the SSP's office in the city. In a complaint lodged by Rajwinder Singh, a resident of Mansa district, it has been stated that his motorcycle (PB 31 K 5965) was stolen. Darshan Singh, a resident of Jogi Nagar, also lost his motorcycle (PB 03 X 0568) to thieves. The incidents happened near the SSP's office. A case under Section 379 of the IPC has been registered at the Civil Lines police station. TNS

Cash, goods stolen

Bathinda: Cash and material worth Rs 2.95 lakh have been stolen from a factory located at Gurusar Sainiwala village. In a complaint lodged by Farangi Lal, a resident of Sheesh Mahal colony, it has been stated that unidentified persons stole 80 litres of mustard oil, 20 litres of desi ghee and Rs 2.85 lakh cash from his factory. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons at the Sangat police station. TNS

Two bikers injured

Bathinda: Two motorcyclists were injured in a collision between their bike and a car on the Amrik Singh road on Monday night in the city. After getting information, volunteers of a local NGO reached the spot and the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital. The injured have been identified as Varinder (30) and Ajay Kumar (22), residents of Veer Colony. TNS

Rs 14 lakh, gold lost to tantriks

Bathinda: The police have booked two unidentified tantriks for duping a resident of Rs 14 lakh and gold in the city. In a complaint lodged by Gurjant Singh, a resident of Ghuman Kalan village, it has been stated that two tantriks took away Rs 14 lakh and gold by luring him at Maur Mandi. The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 406, 420, 468 of the IPC at the Maur police station. TNS

3 booked for assault

Bathinda:Three persons have been booked for beating up three residents of Ballo village over a land dispute. In a complaint lodged by Bachittar Singh, a resident of the same village, it has been stated that accused Gulab Singh, Balraj Singh and Rajwinder Singh of the same village beat him up, his brother Karamjit Singh and uncle Gurlal Singh with sticks over a land measurement issue. A case under Sections 325, 323 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against the accused at the Sadar Rampura police station.TNS

Earrings snatched from woman

Bathinda: Another snatching incident has been reported in which three unidentified youths on a motorcycle snatched earrings of a woman at Gehri Buttar village. As per information, the woman had gone out to purchase vegetables when the incident happened. Harbans Kaur, a resident of Gehri Buttar village, has stated that when she was going to the market, three unidentified persons came on a motorcycle from behind, snatched her earrings and fled from the spot. One accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh. The police have registered a case and started searching the accused.TNS
