Bathinda, December 10

Residents of Arjun Nagar today staged a protest against the Municipal Corporation over the accumulation of sewage in the parks. The protesters also raised slogans against the civic agency responsible for resolving the menace.

Residents of the area — Kulwant, Asha Rani, Geeta Rani, Beena Rani, Sona Devi, Lachmi Devi, Pooja, Ramesh Kumar, Kiran, Vinod, Bablu, Mamta Rani, Ravi Kumar, Aseem, Sarla, Arshdeep Singh and Richa Rani, among others — alleged that the MCB had built toilets in the park and now sewerage water was leaking from there and dirt had accumulated.

They claimed that the leakage was posing a serious threat as children play in the park all through the day amid stench emitting from the accumulated sewerage water.

The residents alleged that the newly laid sewerage pipe of the toilets in the park seems to have been damaged due to which dirty water was leaking, but the MCB was not resolving the problem.

The residents also claimed that the problem of leakage had made life miserable for the people, but the Municipal Corporation was not addressing the problem.
